Cote d'Ivoire Police Launch Tear Gas at Moroccan Fans

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat – Cote d'Ivoire Police have thrown tear gas against Moroccan fans at the entrance of Félix Houphouët-Boigny stadium in Abidjan, according to Moroccan TV channel Arriyadiya.

The shocking move comes just a couple of hours before the critical match that will pit Morocco against Cote d'Ivoire today at 5.30 pm GMT in the last leg of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Over 6,000 Moroccan fans are expected to attend the game. Morocco and Cote d'Ivoire are vying for a ticket for next year's World Cup.

Morocco, who is first of its group, needs only a draw to qualify for the World Cup, while Cote d'Ivoire has no other choice than securing a win over the Moroccans if it was to qualify for the tournament.
