Light tremor 'jolts' Kuwait, says Kuwait National Seismic Network

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 12, (Agencies): An aftershock measuring between 4-5 degrees on richter scale hit Kuwait on Sunday as a result of a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck Iraq-Iran borders, Kuwait National Seismic Network (KNSN) said.

The earthquake epicenter was 200 kms northeast of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, KNSN said in a statement to KUNA.

At least eight villages were damaged in Iran after an earthquake, Iran's state TV reported. 'The quake was felt in several Iranian provinces bordering Iraq … Eight villages were damaged … Electricity has been cut in some villages and rescue teams have been dispatched to those areas,' TV reported.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 struck Iraq on Sunday, 103 kms (64 miles) southeast of the city of As-Sulaymaniyah, the US Geological Survey said. It initially said the quake was of a magnitude 7.2, before revising it to 7.3.
