LAWC hosts seminar on law and technology


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Centre for Law and Development at Qatar University College of Law (QU-LAWC) recently hosted a seminar on law and technology under the theme ‘Law and Technology: 20-Year Reflection'.
The seminar was delivered by Prof Michael Adams, an internationally recognised specialist on legal education, former ‘Australian University Teacher of the Year' for law and legal education, and professor of Corporate Law and Governance at Western Sydney University School of Law.
The seminar was facilitated by LAWC assistant professor of Law Dr Andrew Mazen Dahdal. It aimed to increase community awareness on the role of technology in changing legal practice and education over the past two decades.
Attendees included LAWC faculty members and staff.
Prof Adams gave an overview of the advent of the Internet. He noted that legal information became more accessible through smart devices, and highlighted the adaptation of legal educators to technological changes.
The Centre for Law and Development director Dr Jon Mark Truby added: 'The Centre for Law and Development is delighted to host Professor Adams to learn from his experience during a time of rapid transition in legal education and research, which will help us plan for our use of technology in education in the future.
