The murder that sparked nationwide outrage
Backstory

On September 8, Pradyuman Thakur, a Class-2 student of Ryan International School, Gurugram, was found dead with a slit throat in the school's toilet.

His post mortem revealed he died of "shock and haemorrhage."

Highlighting poor safety standards at schools, and shoddy police investigations, the incident has sparked a nationwide outrage.

The CBI on November 8 announced a Class-11 student as the primary suspect.

CBI denies torture allegations; juvenile sent to correctional home
Details

The suspect's family moved a special court on Saturday wanting action against the CBI for probing the juvenile beyond permissible hours, and creating false evidence to wrongly implicate him.

The CBI, however, has rubbished the allegations, stating that after interrogating him for three days, it didn't need the boy's custody anymore.

The juvenile was sent to a correctional home in Faridabad the same day.

Suspect sent to a correctional home with a reputation

Accused web researched ways to use poison, remove fingerprints
Preparation

Meanwhile, the accused reportedly did an internet research on different kinds of poisons, their uses, and how to effectively wipe off fingerprints.

According to Hindustan Times, the CBI reviewed details of the searches he conducted on his phone and laptop.

It is suspected that the juvenile deliberately threw the knife in the commode of the toilet where he reportedly killed Pradyuman on September 8.

Here's why the juvenile's uniform didn't get any bloodstains
Investigation

Though the shopkeeper of the store from where the juvenile allegedly bought the knife couldn't identify him, the CBI claims to be certain about the sequence of events.

The accused couldn't identify the shopkeeper either but "confessed" to buying the knife from his shop.

Since Pradyuman was carrying a schoolbag when his throat was slit from behind, the juvenile's uniform didn't get any bloodstains.

Social investigation ordered; accused to be sent for psychiatric evaluation
Assessment

An officer from the district child protection unit has been appointed to conduct a social investigation of the case and submit a report in a fortnight.

The juvenile will most likely also be sent for psychiatric evaluation to help gauge his mental and physical well-being. The report will then be used to decide whether he should be tried as an adult or not.
