Qatar- QBA begins Europe tour to attract investments

The Qatari Businessmen Association(QBA) has announced a European tour that would cover France, Germany and Britain, from today.

The delegation will be led by QBA Chairman, Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim Al Thani; the Second Deputy to the Chairman, Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani Al Thani; and Secretary General Issa Abdull Salam Abu Issa.

The delegation also include Sheikh Nawaf Nasser bin Khalid Al Thani, Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani and Sherida Al Kaabi.

The visit is of great importance at this particular time, especially after the visit of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to these countries, which represents a great economic burden for the State of Qatar, both in terms of volume of trade exchange or in terms of the volume of investments Of the two sides, QBA said in a statement yesterday.

The visiting countries account for the lion's share of Qatari investments abroad with more than $100bn. The volume of trade between Qatar and these countries stands at $14bn annually.

'Qatar, France, Germany and Britain are very close and important at all levels and levels in recent years and are reflected in mutual visits at the highest levels and cooperation and partnership agreements in various fields and economic sectors, said Sheikh Faisal.

He added that this visit will include working sessions with senior government officials in these countries and representatives of the private sector to further push the strategic partnership linking Qatar with these global economies in various fields.

He stressed that the Prime Minister's recent announcement on investment free zones is very important at this juncture.

During the tour, the QBA will explain the potential partners in the visiting countries about the benefits of investing in Qatar. The QBA will attract investors in various fields, especially in the industrial and manufacturing sector, Sheikh Faisal said

It should be noted that foreign investment in free zones enjoys many advantages and incentives according to the Free Zones Law.

Nearly 200 French companies have investments in Qatari market. The number of British companies operating in the Qatari market is 79, with most operating in the field of oil and gas, infrastructure and information technology.

There is a significant growth in German companies. A total of 200 German companies are operating in Qatar, according to QBA.
