Saudi Arabia committed to climate accord


(MENAFN)The energy minister for the world's top oil exporter said on Saturday that Saudi Arabia stays committed to the 2015 Paris climate change agreement.

Minister Khalid Al-Falih's stated that after almost 200 countries started talks in Germany to boost a global climate agreement that the United States thinks about quitting.

"For our part, the kingdom will remain committed to maintaining our national contributions on taking climate actions that would also enable sustainable development in line with Saudi Vision 2030." Falih confirmed.

The kingdom plans to wean itself off oil as one of the steps of its ambitious Vision 2030 economic development agenda.
