Beach Volleyball Championships: Oman A duo picks silver


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman A pair of Haitham al Shuraiqi and Ahmed al Hosni went down fighting to the Qatar team of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan in the final of the 26th Arab Beach Volleyball Championships that concluded in Muscat on Thursday.

It was a repeat of last year's final in Morocco and the third successive title for the Qatari duo as it defeated Oman A 21-19, 21-18. Oman fielded two teams with the other duo of Nouh al Jalboobi and Mazin al Hashmi going down in a bronze medal playoff to Lebanon 0-2.

Both Qatar and Oman fielded two teams each along with Bahrain, Yemen. Lebanon, Sudan and Jordan entered one team each. Moroccan team won the women's championship while Sudan finished runner-up followed by Iraq. Qatar was the fourth team.

Qatar men's team had also won the title in Jordan in 2015 after defeating Bahrain.
