Iraq urges emergency summit on regional situation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Nov 11 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi on Saturday called for an urgent regional summit to discuss how to avoid any further escalation in the region.

Al-Abadi's call came at a press conference in Karbala City, south of Bghdad, saying that the current serious escalation would lead to the emergence of terrorist groups and a new cycle of killings and displamcement.

Iraq is ready to play a role in solving the problems of the region, he said, adding that his country has experience in this regard. (end) aha.ha
