Kuwait- 'Hold to account MPW for huge losses over wrong translation'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: MPs Salah Korshid, Majed Al-Mutairi, and Khalil Al-Saleh have called on the concerned authorities to hold to account the Ministry of Public Works for wasting public money which was the result of wrong translation, reports Al-Rai daily.

Assistant Undersecretary for Construction Sector Engineer Ghaleb Shalash said the error in translating the technical terms from English to Arabic led to allocating huge sums of money to government projects from 1987 until date.

He went on to say after the error was rectified, the ministry saved 7 million dinars from just one project. Shalash says it is surprising how the mistake was overlooked as a result of which the State Treasury lost millions of dinars.

Earlier the Ministry of Public Works had said the word 'technical' was wrongly translated from English into Arabic and the mistake cost the ministry millions of dinars.
