Libya's powerful tribe challenges the UN for Libya peace effort

(MENAFN)The powerful tribe that defended the regime of former leader Muammar Qadhafi has a message for the United Nations as it tries to spread peace in Libya- talk to us or you will fail.

The UN has planned a round of negotiations in September to spread peace in a country that suffered from along political, ideological and tribal conflicts during and after the 2011 NATO-backed revolution that ousted Qadhafi.

Western officials are aiming at paving the way for elections next year and improve a government that would control militant activity, curb migrant smuggling and stabilize the oil-rich nation's weakening economy.

However; conversations with the elders of the Warfalla tribe at their meeting in a hall in the former Qadhafi stronghold of Bani Walid showed no promises.
