More than 10,000 people of all ages gathered in Aspire Park to witness the opening day of the ‘Aspire Lake Festival', a first-of-its-kind event organised by Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) in partnership with Katara and Ooredoo.
The Aspire Lake was transformed into an artistic masterpiece featuring more than 24 Italian performers led by acclaimed art director Robert Corona. They put on a breathtaking Venetian-inspired show comprising elegant and artistic singing, dancing, water, fire and air shows, performed in custom built sets and props including Gondolas and a lotus flower.
The Festival reinforces AZF's position as a leading events organiser that brings unique and diverse experiences and activities to Doha. With world-class facilities and extensive experience and capabilities building on its heritage in sporting events, AZF's programme provides entertainment and cultural activities for all members of the community.
Speaking on what made the event a huge success, Nasser Abdullah Al Hajri, Director of PR and Communications at AZF, said: 'The team of experts at Aspire Logistics, a member organisation of AZF specialising in hosting major events for local community members, always go above and beyond. They travel extensively around the world to identify the best and most unique sporting and entertainment events to bring back to Qatar and make available to members of the community here. Tonight's event, which is held for the first time in the Middle East, is a perfect example of that. The November breeze made it even more enjoyable.
He added: 'Aspire has become one of the most popular destinations for sports enthusiasts who love to exercise outdoors, attracting more than 8,000 visitors to Aspire Park on weekends. We're organising this event to showcase the versatility of Aspire Zone's facilities. In addition to being used to irrigate the green areas around the Aspire Zone and providing an exercise hub for Kayak lovers, Aspire Lake offers visitors to the park the opportunity to enjoy beautiful scenery which has been transformed into the perfect stage for this extraordinary event.
A number of well-known local media figures, who were spotted on the first day of the Festival, expressed delight at watching the performances and described it as a unique and extraordinary occasion.
Prominent Qatar TV presenter, Hassan Al Sai, said the show was a ‘big surprise', and was pleased to see so many families attend.
Mohammed Al Hammadi, a young presenter on Qatar TV and Sout Al Khaleej said: 'we're honoured to see this remarkable show in Aspire Zone. The Aspire Lake Festival is unlike any other event we've seen in Qatar. Aspire Zone Foundation has evolved from being a sporting institution to an organisation that is also facilitating cultural exchange through events such as the Aspire Lake Festival. It has exceeded our expectations and we hope to see other events like this organised in Qatar in the future.
Local media influencer, Asma Al Hammadi, said: 'It's a real pleasure to see so many local and expat community members enjoying themselves at Aspire Park by taking part in a world-class show like this. People are always excited by the opportunity to take part in unusual and unique events, especially when they're hosted in landmark locations such as Aspire Park. That is why there are a number of prominent media figures are here today. The huge turnout is clear proof of the Aspire Lake Festival's success.
The Aspire Lake Festival runs until tonight with two more shows at 7.30 pm and at 9.30pm.
