UK: police forces distress over flood in phone calls

(MENAFN) The policing watchdog has notified that police forces in England and Wales are under pressure due to recent flow of public calls.

Measuring up with last year, 999 calls in 2016-2017 had increased by 10.5 percent, according to HM Inspectorate of Constabulary.

As a result, non-emergency 101 calls were frequently left unsettled in the middle of limited budget cuts as well as issues in maintaining control room personnel. The Home Office confirmed it was looking into methods to develop forces competence.
