Climber stays for 5 days on an Australian mountain


(MENAFN) According to police, a climber in that stayed for 5 days in the Australian Alps after he fell down a 30-metre rock crack was saved Thursday.

Rescuers had to go over communication issues and life-risking conditions on the mountain to rescue the German climber of 45 years old on a 2,050 meters altitude.

After he didn't come back for several days, his father reported to the German police, and when the Australian police were notified, they managed to locate his covered in snow car, close by a lake down the mountain.

When the working officer changed communications to text messages, the climber was able to send him the exact location.

When they got to him 3 hours later, they found him with a shoulder and ankle injury, and a police spokesman said: "Given the circumstances, he appears to be in good condition."
