Oman- Gokaldas Khimji Academic Merit Awards 2017 bestowed


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The prestigious Annual Gokaldas Khimji Academic Merit Awards Ceremony was recently held in the multipurpose hall of Indian School Muscat. Sheikh Kanaksi Gokaldas Khimji graced the occasion as the chief guest. He bestowed the honours on the scholastically meritorious students who surpassed great many of their pals in academic aptitude.

This dignified Academic Awards function is an annual event at ISM, applauding bright students. An abundant number of dignitaries, guests and parents converged to witness the joyous moments.

Kiran Asher, member of the Board of Directors, Indian Schools in the sultanate, other members of the Board of Directors, E M Ashraf, former president of the School Management Committee, N Omanakuttan, current president, SMC, Ajaykumar Pillai, chairman, Academic Sub-Committee, and other dignitaries of the management committee were present on this glorious occasion. Welcoming the chief guest, head boy P Sai Saran and head Girl Shravani Garmella jointly presented a potted plant to Sheikh Kanaksi Gokaldas Khimji.

The function commenced with the National Anthems of Oman and India followed by the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, accompanied by Asher, Omanakuttan and principal Dr Rajeev Kumar Chauhan. The head boy welcomed the chief guest and the other dignitaries. The school choir beseeched the blessings of the Almighty through an invocation.

Later, Sheikh Khimji honoured the 199 meritorious students with awards and certificates. On this occasion, Tamoghna Dey, a budding poet of ISM presented her collection of poems to the chief guest.

The digital presentation on the occasion highlighted the major achievements of Indian School Muscat during the past few months.

Ajay Kumar Pillai highlighted the matchless efforts of Sheikh Khimji in pioneering Indian School Muscat and fostering it to the present level.

He lauded the great the contributions, support and guidance of Ashraf during his tenure as the president of ISM. As a token of appreciation and gratitude, the chief guest presented him with a memento and a painting by Aksa Abraham of class XII.

The scintillating Rajasthani folk dance 'Rumpa Jhumpa', choreographed by R L V Babu Joseph and presented by the Senior Section students, which showcased the beauty of Rajasthan with traditional costumes and graceful movements, wrapped-up the evening on a merry note. The school orchestra added ambience to the gathering with its masterpieces.

The school head girl proposed the vote of thanks. At the end of the event, the triumphant moments of the Merit Awards function concluded with the School Anthem and a photo session of the merit awardees with the chief guest and the
dignitaries.
