Lebanese army arrest two IS militants

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Nov 7 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese army said Tuesday it arrested two so-called Islamic State's (IS) leaders in Lebanon.

The army intelligence personnel arrested Ahmad Zaarour, a Lebanese, and Udai Al-Khateeb, a Syria, in the northeasten town of Arsal, the army said in a statement.

The two participated in battles against the Lebanese army in Arsal, as well as planning for terrorist operations whether by booby-trapped cars or bombs, it said.

The army said Al-Khateeb was involved in a bomb attack in Arsal in November 2015, which killed four people.

IS militants used to control large swathes at outskirts of Arsal and nearby villages before the Lebanese army regain control of the occupied areas last August. (end) wsm.bs
