Saudi Arabia offer awards for information on 40 Houthi leaders

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) (Changing dateline) JEDDAH, Nov 5 (KUNA) -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia designated 40 Houthi leaders for being responsible for planning and executing the terrorist activities of Yemeni group.

The kingdom offered financial awards ranging between USD 5-30 million for information that could lead to the arrest of the targeted Houthis or locating their whereabouts, according to a statement carried by SPA Sunday night.

The top award will be given to providers of information leading to the capture of Abdulmalek Al-Houthi - the leader of the group.

A USD 20 million award is available for informers of the whereabouts of any of the following leading Houthis; Saleh Al-Sammad, Mohammad Al-Houthi, Zakaria Al-Shami, Abdullah Abulhakem, Abdulkhaleq Al-Houthi, Mohammad Al-Atefi, Youssef Al-Madani, Abdulqader Al-Shami, Abdul-Rab Jarfan and Yahia Al-Shami.

The awards are in keeping with the laws on the combat against terrorist crimes and the financing for terrorism, the statement of the Saudi Ministry of Interior on designated terrorist groups, and the Kingdom's commitment to international efforts to combat extremism, the statement said.

The move is based on the escalation of the Houthis' attempts to tamper with the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the persistence of the terrorist group in working with Iran - the main sponsor of terrorist groups in the region, and the Lebanese Hezbollah group.

The last night firing of a ballistic missile towards Riyadh is a serious precedence by the terrorist group and direct threat to the safety of and stability of the Kingdom, the statement added. (pickup previous) nh.gb
