Kuwait- Sacked Catalan leader hands himself over to Belgian police

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Nov 5 (KUNA) -- Catalonia's deposed leader Carles Puigdemont and four of his former ministers have turned themselves in to Belgian police, Belgian media reported on Sunday.

A Spanish court on Friday had applied for a European arrest warrant for Puigdemont and the former officials after their absence from a trial over their involvement in Catalonia's independence declaration from Spain.

Puigdemont had travelled to Brussels on Monday, insisting he would resume efforts to build an independent Catalonian republic. (end) nk.sd
