Kuwait- New quake recorded in south Saudi Arabia


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) JEDDAH, Nov 4 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia on Saturday reported an earthquake and a chain of tremors in the south of the kingdom.

The new quake, measuring three degrees, the second in hours, hit Al-Namas Governorate in the southern region Asir, Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) said in a statement. It was recorded at a depth 5.4 kilometers.

At dawn on Friday, the authority monitored an earthquake in Al-Namas at a depth of 9.1 kms.

No damage was reported as a result of the two quakes.

Hani Zahran, General Director of Earthquakes and Volcanoes at the SGS, said in remarks published by the local press, today, that a chain of tremors had hit Al-Namas since Friday dawn.

However, he ruled out major quakes urging residents to pursue their daily life as normal.

On October 17, the survey authority reported a light quake at the Red Sea, off Jeddah. (end) nh.rk
