Mugham: spiritual music of Azerbaijan

Mugham is a unique monument of Azerbaijan's classical music, which has survived in oral form.

The art of mugham has deep roots in the history of the culture of the Azerbaijani people.

Regardless of the individual approach, it remains one of the main spiritual values for the whole nation. Admirers of music discover genuine mugham over and over again.

A concert "Mugham and spirituality" was held in Heydar Aliyev Palace on November 1.

Aygun Bayramova, Nazaket Teymurova, Gyulianag Mammadova, honored artist Ehtiram Huseynov and the ensemble "Könül" brilliantly performed mugham "Rast dəstgahı", Trend Life reported.

The gala evening was hosted by Secretary of Azerbaijan Writers Union, poet and writer Ilgar Fahmi.

During the concert, it was stressed that mugham is the pearl of the world musical art. Azerbaijani music conquered the world with its spirituality. Music lover from over the world admire seven main mugham modes - Segyah", "Chahargyah", "Rast", "Bayati Shiraz", "Shur", "Humayun", "Shushter".

In 2003, UNESCO recognized mugham as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

A symbol of Azerbaijan's traditional culture is based on three basic moral principles: truth, kindness and beauty. This brilliance in music willlive in ourhearts forever.
