Jordan- King visits Royal Film Commission


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov. 2 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Thursday visited the Royal Film Commission (RFC), where he was briefed on future programs and plans of the commission.

During his visit, the King met representatives from the commission and Jordanian filmmakers. HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, President of the Board of Commissioners, appreciated King Abdullah's support to the commission, which endeavors to develop local film industry to be able to compete globally and enable Jordan to play a leading role in the movie production industry worldwide.

RFC General Manager George David spoke about achievements made by the commission, noting that around 110 local and international movies had been filmed and produced in the Kingdom in recent years. He said the RFC works to attract movie projects to be filmed in Jordan.

Moreover, David reviewed the RFC's future strategy, which would focus on supporting cinema and television production in Jordan. The RFC, David said, provides various training opportunities for emerging and professional filmmakers form both Jordan and the region.

A number of Jordanian filmmakers also shared their experience in the movie industry and their aspirations of the industry in the Kingdom.
