Putin talks about Syria in his visit to Tehran


(MENAFN)Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iran's leadership have met on Wednesday in Tehran to study a Syrian peace plan and the Kremlin has offered to support a landmark nuclear deal facing US opposition.

Putin has not visited Tehran since 2015, and is now holding talks with President Hassan Rouhani.

A three-way summit is going to be held between Putin, Rouhani and the leader of ex-Soviet Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev that aims at strengthening economic ties between their energy-rich nations.

Putin however; focuses on Syria foremost in his visit, after Russia, Iran and Turkey pledged to bring the Syrian regime and its opponents together for a "congress" to in an effort to bring peace to the area.
