(MENAFN)Italy has narrowed the ways for Migrant arrivals after the deal with Libya on blocking the boats, and consequently Migrant arrivals dropped nearly 70 per cent since summer, and asylum seekers are forced to use other routes into Europe.
Italy's interior ministry said this week, that nearly 150,000 migrants have crossed the Mediterranean lately this year, but the number landing in Italy is down by 30 per cent compared to last year, and has plunged an enormous 69 per cent since July.
At the same time, arrivals in Spain have more than tripled, with over 14,000 arrivals this year compared to 12 months ago.
A controversial deal between Rome and Libyan authorities, tribal leaders and- according to Libyan sources disproved by Rome- human traffickers has shut down the dangerous route to Italy at the end of June.
