Qatar- Emir, Italian PM hold talks

Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a round of official talks with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Italy, Paolo Gentiloni, at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.

At the outset of the session, the Emir welcomed the Prime Minister of Italy and expressed hope that the visit will contribute to developing bilateral cooperation in a way that serves the joint interests of the two friendly peoples.

For his part, the Prime Minister expressed delight at the visit and stressed his country's commitment to enhancing cooperation in all fields. The Prime Minister also expressed hope that the visit could act as a new phase of advanced bilateral cooperation and thanked the Emir of the contribution Qatar Fund for Development made to rebuilding areas damaged by earthquakes in Italy.

The talks dealt with reviewing bilateral ties between the two friendly nations and how to enhance them in the fields of energy, economy, and investment. It also touched upon the latest regional and international developments, especially that of the Middle-East led by the GCC crisis and developments in Libya.

The talks also focused on the counter-terrorism efforts of both countries and how to stop the financing of terrorism.

The Italian Prime Minister arrived at the Emiri Diwan earlier, where he was met with an official reception ceremony. The Emir also held a luncheon banquet in honour of the Italian Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation.

The Italian Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival at Hamad International Airport by Minister of Finance H E Ali Shareef Al Emadi, Qatar's Ambassador to the Italian Republic H E Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Malki Al Juhani and Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Qatar Pasquale Salzano.
