Lifetime Achievement Award for prof Salma al Kindy


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- In recognition of her contribution, research excellence and accomplishments in the field of Chemistry, prof Salma Mohammed al Kindy, dean of the College of Science and professor in the Department of Chemistry at Sultan Qaboos University, received the 'Lifetime Achievement Award in Chemistry' from the Venus International Foundation (VIF) based in Chennai, India.

VIF is a trust dedicated to advancing innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity and is a leading professional organisation. It aims to serve academic, research and practicing professionals working on the Frontiers of Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, Health and Medical Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Management, Science, Veterinary and Animal Sciences.

Prof Salma completed her BSc (Honours) in chemistry from the Faculty of Science, American University of Cairo, Egypt in 1982. She received her PhD in Chemistry from Loughborough University, Loughborough, England, in 1987.

In 1989, she joined Sultan Qaboos University as a lecturer in the chemistry department. She is a winner of several international awards and a member of international organisations. She has been elected as a Fellow of TWAS in 2010.

Prof Salma is the recipient of the US Department of State's award under the Women in Science Hall of Fame programme - 2013.
