Militants 'responsible for Western Desert attack' in Egypt killed

(MENAFN)Egypt's air force was able to attack the base of the militants who were responsible for a deadly attack on a police convoy 10 days ago, and managed to kill a large number of them, the military said on Tuesday.

The military stated that the raid was the second in a week targeting militants behind the October 21 attack, and was coordinated with police and they did an intensified work to locate their location and attack them.

Three security sources said that at least 52 police officers and conscripts were killed on October 21 when they were attacked, the interior ministry however; disproved that figure the next day and said they were only 16.

A new military chief of staff was appointed a week later and the interior ministry sacked several high-ranking officials.
