Tillerson meets Russia's ambassador, discuss issues including IS
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Nov 1 (KUNA) -- U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met with Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov late Tuesday at the Department of State.
State Department Spokeswoman Heather Nauert said both sides discussed a wide range of issues including the defeat of the so-called Islamic State (IS) in Syria and the United States' commitment to the Geneva talks regarding the Syrian conflict.
Tillerson and Antonov discussed also "the need to restore Ukraine's territorial integrity and fully implement the Minsk agreements." Other topics included countering North Korean threat and prospects for improving PyongYnag bilateral relationship with the US, she added.
The meeting comes a day after charges were announced against three of President Donald Trump's former campaign officials in connection with a federal probe of a possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia to influence the 2016 election. (end) si.nhq
