Jordan.. Three officers jailed for involvement in prison riots

(MENAFN)An official source in Jordan said that The Police Court on Monday, sent three police officers to prison terms ranging from two months to one year because of their involvement in the riots that occurred at Swaqa Correctional and Rehabilitation Centre (SCRC) in September.

According to a senior police official, the three officers are discharged after they were found guilty of failing to perform their duties effectively.

The court also decided to dismiss 10 other police officers who were standing trial on charges of bribery and failing to perform their duties adequately, though there were no crucial evidences.

"The verdict is a clear sign that the Public Security Department [PSD] represented by the Police Court will not tolerate any wrongdoing by any of its personnel." said Basel Tarawneh Government Coordinator for Human Rights.
