Former White House ethics chief labels Kelly as a racist

(MENAFN) Chief of staff Gen. John Kelly was described as a "racist" on Tuesday by the former White House ethics chief when Kelly stated that the Civil War originated due to "the lack of an ability to compromise."

Walter Shaub, who until July was the US Office of Government Ethics director, has written on Twitter in mockery "it appears John Kelly is going as a racist for Halloween. I suspect he's also going as one for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday..."

Shaub's comment was based on Kelly's statement during an interview, his precise words were "there are certain things in history that were good, and other things that were not so good, the lack of an ability to compromise led to the Civil War, and men and women of good faith on both sides made their stand where their conscience had them make their stand."
