Man who once plotted to kill Mr. Putin now injured

(MENAFN) Adam Osmayev, a Chechen man who was accused of scheming to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin, has been wounded and his spouse killed in an assault close to Kiev, Ukraine's capital. Anton Herashchenko, Ukrainian Interior Ministry adviser stated that he "was wounded but will live" following a gun attack while he was in a car.

Russian officials confirmed that in 2012 Mr. Osmayev was suspected to take part in a plan designed by Islamists to kill Mr. Putin. During that time, Russian press reported that the plot was to plant mines in Kutuzovsky Avenue in Moscow, which was daily used by Mr. Putin.

Afterward, Russia asked Ukraine to transport Mr. Osmayev, however the authorities in Kiev rejected their request, stating they wish to remain put until the European Court of Human Rights thought through his appeal against extradition.
