Ryanair Airlines: profit increase despite cancellation incident


(MENAFN) In spite of the disturbance of schedules that led Ryanair to call off 20,000 flights, it still estimates that this year it will hit record annual profits. The Irish airline confirmed that in six months, until the end of September, it reached a profit of 1.29bn Euro, and predicts a full-year profit of up to 1.45bn Euro.

The disruption's reason is said to because pilots' schedule had to be altered in order to abide by the latest aviation regulations. However, Michael Hickey, Chief operations officer has quit from his position after the incident.

In response to the company's outcome, Ryanair's shares increased at least 4 percent in early trading. The first-half of the company's profit was not affected for the cancellation incident has occurred in September. Even so, it was confirmed by competitor airlines that they currently facing a rise in booking, as a result of passengers doubting the future of Ryanair flights due to the incident.
