(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- Innovative projects of four Kuwaiti students and members of the Kuwait Science Club have snatched advanced positions at the Egypt International Science and Technology Fair (EISTF) and competition.
In a press statement on Monday, Chairman of the Kuwait Science Club Talal Al-Kharafi congratulated the winners and expressed his pride of their achievement.
He pointed out that the KSC is keen on partaking in the EISTF because it is the largest in the Arab region and brings together talented students from the across the region.
For his part, head of the Kuwaiti delegation to the EISTF Dr. Mohammad Al-Saffar said that the Kuwait has participate in the competition with the top four projects and winners of the Kuwait Science and Technology Fair.
He pointed out a project about automated irrigation for plants developed by student Usama Al-Yaqoot was ranked third in "the Embedded Systems (EBED)" category.
In "the Robotics and Intelligent Mac" category, a device developed by Hussein Jarkhi to help paralyzed people better move and communicate with others won the third place.
A project, by student Bader Al-Awadi, on using Gulf water to rid of Sulfur dioxide came third in the "chemistry" category. A smart shoes for diabetic people, developed by student Farah Al-Mutawaa, won the same place in "the Engineering Mechanics (ENMC) category.
EISTF, a program of the Egyptian Association for Science and Engineering (TEASE), is an international science competition for school students.
It provided more than 200 school students from more than 10 countries and regions with the opportunity to present their independent research and compete for prizes.
EISTF brought together these top young scientific minds, presenting their researches internationally, with doctoral level scientists judge their work. (end) zak.ibi
