Joaan bin Jassim Staff College holds graduation event


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Joaan bin Jassim Joint Command and Staff College has celebrated the graduation of a group of officers and commanders from the various units of the Qatari armed forces, officers of the Emiri Guards, Lekhwiya, and the Ministry of Interior, and a number of officers from friendly countries who successfully passed the programmes of the Fourth round of the Joint Command and Staff.
The ceremony was held at the Ahmed bin Mohamed Military College, under the patronage and the presence of HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, and HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem as well as a number of senior officials, officers and faculty members.
Brigadier General Mohamed bin Hamad al-Nuaimi, Commander of Joaan bin Jassim College for Joint Command and Staff, said that the fourth course is the first to be taught in Arabic, noting that the College is preparing officers who are chosen from different ranks and units of the armed forces.
He added that the course curricula seeks to enrich the military and academic thought and upgrade skills of candidates.
The college commander said that the graduates had spent about 10 months attending classes in the college and received lectures in planning, analysis and management of battles from receiving tasks to the issuance of critical orders and decisions.
They also underwent courses in strategies, management science, military information and international law.
He pointed out that the military history was a part of the programme of the course, which ended with the 'war game exercise, in which the officers displayed their knowledge and military theories.
The course included 44 officers from all branches of the Qatari armed forces, the Ministry of the Interior, the internal security force Lekhwiya, and the Emiri Guard, as well as officers from Kuwait and Oman, he said.
He said that the College is seeking to offer a master's programme in strategic and security studies, stressing that this programme will have a great scientific role in the competence and culture of future officers.
Brigadier al-Nuaimi lauded the support given to the College by HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, as well as the continuous guidance from HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem, wishing the graduates all the success in serving their homeland.
