Qatar- QRCS promotes humanitarian principles in Syria
Qatar Red Crescent Society's (QRCS) Mission in Gaziantep, Turkey, has held its sixth course on basics and fundamentals of humanitarian action, legal framework for delivery of aid in armed conflict, and Islamic teachings on charity work.
Attended by 39 humanitarian personnel inside Syria, the two-day course was conducted via WebEx at QRCS's centre in Al Dana Town, Idlib, north of Syria. It was delivered by Dr. Saad Rostom, Manager, QRCS's International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Islamic Law promotion project.
The purpose of the course was to promote humanitarian principles and standards among Syrian NGOs and volunteers; highlight the links with the Islamic Law; train relief workers in the best practices of handling beneficiaries; enhance knowledge of the laws governing delivery of aid in conflict; and improve donor relations with governments, NGOs, and international organizations.
Comprising eight sessions, the course addressed a wide range of relevant topics.
