Green Beret death: homicide investigation

(MENAFN) According to a US official, an investigation has been initiated by the Navy in order to determine if the murder of an army Green Beret in Mali which occurred in June was committed by a couple of members of the Navy's elite SEAL Team Six.

Based on a statement from the US Army Special Command, the deceased had been a Special Forces Engineer Sergeant. Moreover, the NCIS investigation into the death of Army Staff Sgt. Logan J. Melgar, has been confirmed by Ed Buice, Naval Criminal Investigative Service spokesman.

The death of Melgar was ruled as a homicide through an examination made by a military examiner. According to a US official, the investigation's jurisdiction has been transferred in September to the Navy when it was under the Army's jurisdiction. The shift of jurisdiction conveys that Navy personnel are also being investigated, as the official stated.
