After losing Shikhar Dhawan in the seventh over itself, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli then put on 230 runs for the second wicket, completely dominating the Kiwi bowlers.

Scoring his 15th ODI century and the first against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma is the second highest run-getter in the 2017 calendar year. In 18 innings, he has 1076 runs, including five centuries and five half centuries.

He also became the 12th batsman to hit 150 sixes in ODIs, taking second fewest innings (165) to reach the milestone behind Shahid Afridi (160 innings).


Kohli reaches 9000 run mark in ODIs

Indian skipper Virat Kohli became the fastest player to reach the 9000 ODI run mark. He reached this milestone in just 194 innings.

Scoring 113 runs today, Kohli hit his 32nd ODI century and also crossed the 2000 run mark in all formats for this year. He has scored 449 runs in tests, 1456 runs in ODIs and 195 runs in T20 internationals.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma put on 230 runs together to become the only pair to have four 200-plus partnerships to their names. Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli and Upul Tharanga and Mahela Jayawardene have three 200+ partnerships each.
