(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA), in co-operation with the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC), has recently organised a free legal course for all administrative officials in Qatar titled ‘Legal for non-legal professionals'.
The course, which was delivered by Dr Zain al-Abdin Sharar, senior legal counsel at QICDRC, aims to introduce laws and their importance in regulating the various relations in society, with the aim of helping them understand and protect their rights.
The objective of the course is to familiarise participants with legal terminology, the science of law, as well as its sources and functions, in addition to helping them understand the nature and characteristics of the law, different types of laws, and empowering them to understand the different types of contracts and contractual responsibility.
QFBA acting CEO Dr Mohamed Abdullah al-Emadi said: 'QFBA and the QICDRC are adopting an innovative approach to introducing the law in terms of its types, sources, and principles through the launch of a specialised legal course, with the aim of spreading this culture among members of the community, so that they can
understand and protect their rights.
'In order to activate the rule of law in society, it is important to study it, understand its objectives as well as its role in protecting individuals, instilling the stability of society and the achievement of its economic objectives, which is the goal we sought to achieve through the ‘Legal for non-legal professionals' course.
QICDRC CEO Faisal Rashid al-Sahouti said: 'One of the most important foundations of the prosperity and progress of society is stability and security, and this can only be achieved through an effective law system that provides justice and protect the interests of individuals from infringement, hence the need to educate individuals about the law so that they can know their rights in order to protect them and safely conduct their legal affairs. This course came within this context as it highlighted laws and their functions, as well as alternatives to dispute settlement, in addition to a number of related topics.
