Noor says willing to run for presidency

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Balkh governor Atta Mohammad Noor on Sunday announced his decision to run for the presidency in 2019 presidential election.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the 94th anniversary of the Declaration of the Republic of Turkey at Turkish consulate here, Noor blasted the unity government leaders and said their negligence had resulted in the recent insecurities in the country.

Noor after a while of silence once again slammed government leaders and accused them of poor management.

'The increased military casualties are a shame; but unity government leaders say we are successful. Where is our success?'

Noor also dubbed the absence of General Abdul Rashid Dostum, the First Vice President, from the country as 'harmful' for the Uzbek and Turkmen ethnic groups.

He said: 'Every single day that he (Dostum) is not here, an Uzbek son gets killed, a Turkmen son gets killed. A number of them have joined because there is no one to manage them.'

He asked Turkey if the Afghan government asked it to allow further stay of the VP, it should not accept it.

Noor, who is also the (JIA) party CEO, said corruption had reached the peak in the country.

He also showed interest in running for presidency in the upcoming election.

'I had been offered ministries many times but I didn't accept and I am not interested to become head of the procurement commission. I am willing to nominate myself for the presidential election,' Noor declared.
