Myanmar: drone flight leads to an arrest
(MENAFN) A couple of foreign journalists and two Burmese were charged by Myanmar police with the crime of breaking import laws post flying with a drone in close proximity to the country's parliament.
The perpetrators are detained and are in custody waiting for their hearing, their sentence might be up to three years in prison. The journalists, one from Malaysia and the other from Singapore, were working for Turkish broadcaster TRT.
Due to the Rohingya crisis, anxiety has been building up among Myanmar and Turkey, of which at least 600,000 people have taken off from Rakhine state for Bangladesh. Last month, even though Myanmar believes that it is fighting rebellion, Recep Tayyip Erdogan the Turkish president stated that aggression against Rohingya Muslims was an equivalent for genocide.
