An expected growth in packaged Kimichi

(MENAFN) According to industrial data, a growth of 9.6% is anticipated for sales of packaged Kimichi this year from 2016, as demands are increasing from one-member households.

The domestic market for the Kimichi is estimated to hit 1.39b won (1.22b USD) in 2017 from 1.27t won in 2016, Daesang Co., a major ready-made kimchi producer said.

Daesang said that as the demand for kimchi per consumer is decreasing due to westernized eating habits of Koreans, the increasing number of one or two-person households resulted in an increase of packaged kimchi shipping.

According to industry watchers, products such as packaged Kimichi, are still demanded by consumers for their short preparation time.
