With the plantation of seasonal plants, the activities of Sustainability Week kicked off at Al Wakrah Public Park yesterday.
The event was attended by Mansour Al Buainain, Director of Al Wakra Municipality; Belgian Ambassador, Bart De Groof; and the Netherlands Ambassador, Dr Bahia Tahzib-Lie; employees of both embassies and Belgian expatriates among many other officials. The week-long event is being organised by Al Wakrah Municipality in collaboration with the Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC).
Mansour Al Buainain, Director of Al Wakra Municipality, said that launch of the Sustainability Week in its second edition contributes to the values of preserving the environment and supporting the concept of sustainability.
Al Wakrah Municipality in cooperation with the Qatar Green Building Council and all national and international organizations concerned for environmental protection is working to achieve sustainable development.
Ambassador of the Netherlands, Dr Bahia Tahzib-Lie expressed her pleasure in the launch of Sustainability Week and the participation of Al Wakra Municipality in the events.
She stressed that the adoption of sustainability policies is the responsibility of all because it contributes to the welfare of future generations. Ambassador of Belgium to Qatar, Bart De Groof said that there are concrete efforts from Al Wakra Municipality in the field of sustainability.
