Oman- Pakistan schools to elect new board in December


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) has announced that the school and its branches across Oman will hold board elections in December.

The elections will be held on December 12, 14, 17, 18, 19 and 21. Muhammad Zia ul Haq Siddiqui, chairman of the steering committee of Pakistan schools in Oman said, 'The elections will be held under the supervision of the Ministry of Education (MoE).

The Board of Directors (BoDs) for 2016-18 was dissolved by MoE on June 18, 2017. MoE had nominated five members of the steering committee to run the management and monitoring of the school.

'The other duty assigned to steering committee is to conduct free and fair elections of BoDs and School Management Committees (SMCs) for the period of 2018-20.' Siddiqui added, 'It is important to note that as per the decision of MoE, elected members of BoD 2016-18 including two SMCs, presidents of the board will not be allowed to contest this election and election in future under Clause No 4.2.4 and 11.2.4 approved by the laws. Further, the SMC, Pakistan School Seeb was also dissolved by the Steering Committee on October 15. These members are also barred from contesting the current elections or elections in the future.'

Siddiqui said that only one parent per student will be eligible to vote and they would have to bring along an identification document. He said, 'We request parents to come and vote and select a capable candidate who can fulfil the duties and help in the development of the school.'
