Jordan- Ramtha still in lead as Ahli, Shabab Urdun drop


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) right" > AMMAN — Interesting matches await fans as Week 7 of the Jordan Professional Football League kicks off on Friday with Ramtha still in the lead while titleholders Faisali stayed 5th.

Ramtha beat former champs Shabab Urdun 2-1 after they beat Wihdat 1-0 last week to remain atop the lead. They next play Faisali who were held 0-0 as Hussein climbed to 11th.

Jazira, who jumped to second after they beat Ahli 4-1, next play Manshieh, who moved up to 7th, while Ahli dropped to 6th and next play Wihdat.

Former champs Wihdat beat Baqa'a 2-0 to maintain third place and their upcoming match against Ahli is decisive for both teams.

That Ras moved up to fourth after they beat newcomers Aqaba 2-1 ahead of their match against Hussein who have found themselves struggling at the bottom half of the standings.

Baqa'a next play Shabab Urdun who have dropped further down the list, while Aqaba who are now 10th play Yarmouk who dropped to last.

Ahli's Mahmoud Wadi still heads the top scorers list with six goals.

So far this season, reigning League and Jordan Cup champs Faisali beat Jazira to win the 35th Jordan Super Cup. Wihdat beat Jazira to win the Jordan Football Association Shield.

Last season, Faisali won their 33rd league title after a four year break and combined it with the Jordan Cup. Ahli beat reigning league champs Wihdat to win the Super Cup, Shabab Urdun beat Faisali to win their second Shield title after they first won in 2007. Sarih and Sahab were relegated and replaced by Aqaba and Yarmouk from the First Division.
