Qatar- QFSW receives 855 affected citizens from siege countries

Doha: The Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW) has announced that it has received more than 855 beneficiaries of nationals from the siege countries since the beginning of the siege until the end of August. 771 of them were provided with family, rehabilitation and legal and psychological counseling services through its affiliated centers while the rest were directed to the competent authorities in the country.

The Foundation also completed the establishment of databases on the information of national institutions that can be contacted during the crisis, including hotline service 919, and work to create humanitarian and social services if necessary. The centers provided family, social, advisory and rehabilitation services to members of families affected by the siege, and set up a crisis management team comprising specialists and consultants in the family, psychological, social and legal fields.

It provided services to 303 beneficiaries, Aman Center 131, Shafallah 64, Namaa 108, Ihsan 26, Dreema 2. While the Best Badez Initiative provided services to 137 beneficiaries, noting that services are still ongoing.

Despite the siege countries have taken a contrary position to all human rights and international humanitarian principles, civil society organizations continued to provide services to all without discrimination believing in the moral and humanitarian position and principles of human rights charters, including the Arab Charter of 2004.

Qatar Foundation for Social Work is a non-profit development organization established in 2013. It is a pioneer in empowering civil society organizations, enhancing their capacities, developing and activating their role to sustain family and community cohesion and human development.

The Foundation received the advisory status of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in July 2017 that enabling it to strengthen its position within organizations over international borders in human development issues.
