Egypt confronts wheat crisis

(MENAFN)Egypt is issuing an efficient guide on wheat imports within two weeks that will have all the details including specifications, measures, and guidelines for traders selling to the worldØ·s largest buyer, in order to face the wheat crisis it is having.Supply Minister Ali Moselhy told Reuters on Wednesday.

Egypt is seeking to calm the situation and the tensed suppliers who have been adding risk premiums of up to $500,000 per cargo, saying that import rules are unreliable and inspection processes are unqualified.

Dozens of cargoes have been delayed for costly extra procedures after two cargoes were halted in the last couple of months.

Speaking at an event in Dubai, Moselhy said the agriculture ministry as part of a committee has been conjoining the compiled guide, which will not work on stating new rules but rather combine all related regulations and specifications, publishing them in one place to gain genuineness.
