Kuwait- US releases list of Russian entities that may be sanctioned

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Oct 27 (KUNA) -- The US on Friday released a list of over 30 Russian entities and individuals who may be sanctioned as a consequence for Moscow's interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The individuals were found to have operated for or on behalf defense and intelligence sectors of the Russian government. This move also comes as a response to Russia's behavior with respect to Ukraine, cyber intrusions, and human rights abuses, a Senior State Department official told reporters on a background call.

The US plans to work with its allies and partners over the next several months to identify transactions that may be problematic once the sanctions go into effect.

The purpose of the list made public today is to clarify to companies, lawmakers and other governments how to avoid interference with the sanctions once it goes into effect on January 29. (end) ak.bs
