Czech election victor Babis signals he'll form a minority government

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Billionaire populist Andrej Babis has signalled that he will try to govern alone, after emerging as the clear winner of national elections a week ago.
'We've run into rejection by everyone, so we're going to try a minority government, the ANO (Yes) party founder said yesterday, according to online portal MF Dnes.
ANO received 29.6% of the vote, making it by far the strongest party to emerge from the central European country's election held last Friday and Saturday.
The new parliament has its first session on November 20.
President Milos Zeman already signalled on Thursday his support for a Babis-led minority government.
'He's the victor of the election, and you have to respect that, the 73-year-old said on broadcaster Barrandov TV.
There has been speculation that the far-right Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) party or Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSCM) would support Babis.
Babis ran a campaign on opposition to refugee immigration and against closer European Union integration, but called himself 'pro-European after the election.
