Security operation kills 95 insurgents across Afghanistan

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (KUNA) -- At least 95 insurgents have been killed in security operations in different parts of Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, said Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Friday.

Afghan MoD said that the "militants" were killed during offensives in Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktia, Logar, Uruzgan, Zabul, Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Kunduz, Baghlan, and Helmand provinces of Afghanistan.

It added that eight armed opposition members were wounded in the operations, which also led to the arrest of 11 suspects.

The Afghan Air Force (AAF) conducted 110 sorties in support of the Afghan National Army and targeted insurgents in nine places, the statement added.

According to local media, Taliban rebels claimed killing of several security personnel in different parts of the country.

The clash came at a time when a series of attacks last week targeting Afghan security forces and civilians have killed over 200 people, mostly security personnel, and wounded 300 others across Afghanistan. (end) sbk.gta
