Iran reopens Bashmakh border crossing with Kurdistan region


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) IRBIL, Oct 25 (KUNA) -- Iran announced Wednesday that it would reopen the Bashmakh border crossing with the Kurdistan region of Iraq after 15 days of closure.

The Iranian consulate in Irbil said that the border crossing was reopened to allow the exchange of travels and the resumption of customs operations.

Authorities in Kurdistan confirmed the reopening of the border crossing. Iranian authorities have closed the facility mid-October as a result of the Kurdistan independence referendum which was held on September 25. (end) sbr.gta
