Syrian woman boils water for her starving children

(MENAFN)In a besieged Syrian town of Hamouria, Manal, a mother for four children, has been faking making dinner by boiling water on the stove in order to convince her sons that she"s doing her duty when she actually has no food.

She puts the pot on the flame as a ruse, hoping her children will fall asleep in the wrecked house before they realize she"s only boiling water there is nothing for dinner.

Over 1,100 children are starving, and hundreds more are at risk because of the lack of food in account of the government blockade in the rebel-held Eastern Ghouta region where she lives.

Aid agencies are afraid that the situation is not getting any better, in spite of the international agreement to implement a "de-escalation zone" in the area, which has reduced violence but has not brought new access to food, medicine and humanitarian aid.
