Abe gains victory in Japan elections

(MENAFN)Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo has vowed to keep ready against North Korea because of its threat that dominated the campaign, right after he won the election on Sunday.

Abe is on his way to become Japan's longest-serving leader after he won the elections with 311 seats in the 465-seat parliament, according to a projection from private broadcaster TBS.

The resounding election win is likely to stiffen Abe's resistance to challenge North Korea's nuclear threat, at the same time the US decided to exert maximum pressure on Pyongyang after it fired two missiles over Japan in the space of a month.

"As I promised in the election, my imminent task is to firmly deal with North Korea," Abe pointed out.
